Interior Architect Sena Çelik's Room Selection

Peace, luxury or a sense of belonging.

What project are you working on right now?

We've been working with the Designist team for many years, primarily on hotel projects. Currently, I'm heavily involved in hotel projects. One of these projects is the renovation of the Swissôtel's presidential suite. This project, which deviates slightly from our design guidelines, is both challenging and extremely enjoyable.

One of the projects that excites me most is our new project in Konya. We're working on transforming the historic Sanayi Mektebi (School of Industry), built in 1901, into a boutique hotel. I can't wait to complete this project, which has a powerful and unconventional concept.

The DoubleTree project I previously completed in Şanlıurfa was the first five-star hotel in Southeastern Anatolia. This year marks our second time participating in a hotel project in the city. Our new project, owned by the Marriott Group, will be a comprehensive undertaking, with both the architectural and interior design undertaken from scratch.

In addition to all this, I'm also nearing completion on two residential projects, each with a distinct style from the hotel projects. I'm excited about the most enjoyable phase: decorating and photography.

What features should a space you design have when you deliver it?

When I deliver a space, I make sure it's more than just four walls. The space should convey the world I envisioned when designing it to the person who enters it: peace, luxury, dynamism, or a sense of belonging. It should convey the emotion for which it was designed. The balance of functionality and aesthetics, the relationship between light and space, the texture of the materials used, and the combination of details should create a holistic experience. What matters to me is that the delivered space feels "completed," not "ready-made." This means that the user can immediately begin living, working, or spending time there upon entering. In short, the space should become a living story once its design is complete.

Is it possible to design a permanent room in rapidly changing shopping trends?

Shopping trends change rapidly, but designing a lasting room isn't about chasing trends, but about looking beyond them. A space becomes timeless when it possesses the flexibility to adapt not only to today's tastes but also to tomorrow's needs. For me, permanence lies not in fashionable surfaces, but in the light, balance, and connection it establishes with the user, defining the spirit of the space. A room is enduring to the extent that it allows room for change; even as trends come and go, the space continues to tell its own story.

Room Concept: Mosaic Flow

This room is dynamic enough to enjoy with family and friends, yet serene enough to offer peace and comfort when alone. The vibrant colors, diverse textures, and unique forms combine to create a fluid energy within the space. While its inviting design invites socializing, it also aims to create a space that provides calm and inspiration for moments of solitude. Mosaic Flow offers users both a collective experience and a personal escape, bringing together the diverse flows of life under one roof.
