Interior Architect Damla Er's Room Selection
Places with a character independent of trends.
What project are you working on right now?
I'm Damla Er, an Interior Architect with a Master's degree. I specialize in mobile home and caravan interior design, but I'm currently actively focusing on residential projects and interior design. In my designs, I prioritize functionality over aesthetics, using contemporary interpretations of natural materials. I also develop unique furniture designs through my own brand and directly contribute to the production process. Developing solutions that focus on user experience and enhance the identity of a space is a priority for me. I also create content on decoration and interior architecture by following current design trends, aiming to inspire both my colleagues and a broad audience interested in design.
What features should a space you design have when you deliver it?
When handing over a space, my priority is to ensure that functionality and aesthetics are balanced. It's crucial for me that the space truly feels like it belongs to the user and offers comfortable and long-lasting solutions. From the selection of materials to the spatial layout, every detail is harmonious, timeless, and sustainable. These are the qualities I absolutely want to see upon handover.
I also ensure that the space is not only visually appealing but also designed to facilitate users' daily routines. It's crucial for me to ensure that the communication and shared vision we establish during the design process come to life in the final product. The joy and excitement users feel when they first experience a space is the most valuable feedback I provide.
Is it possible to design a permanent room in rapidly changing shopping trends?
Of course, designing a room that's completely timeless isn't easy given rapidly changing trends. However, with the right approach and a strong design language, it's possible to create timeless solutions that preserve the space's character. My priority is to establish a core identity that's independent of trends—in other words, to create a strong foundation that gives the space its character.
In doing so, I utilize natural materials, balanced color palettes, and functional designs. This allows a space to maintain its aesthetic value for many years without being influenced by fleeting fashions. It's possible to keep a space current by incorporating trendy touches into small details, but the key is to establish a strong design foundation. For me, enduring design is a space that is both unique to the user and bears the designer's signature.
Artful Harmony
A Timeless and Artistic Interior Design
This carefully designed living space, Artful Harmony, combines the elegant details of the past with modern touches. It's a timeless, aesthetically pleasing, and artistic example of interior design.
A Timeless Color Palette
The colors chosen for the space reflect its character. Earthy tones—brown, beige, and mustard—add warmth and inviting charm. Green tones, along with sofas and plants, add a vibrant and natural feel. Light neutral tones in furniture and decorative objects balance the cream, white, and light gray palette, creating a spacious atmosphere. This combination evokes a sense of both nostalgia and modernity.
Space Organization with Furniture and Accessories
The furniture and accessories in the space combine function and aesthetics. The brown curved armchair and green armchair provide a retro-modern expression and color contrast. The coffee and side tables, with their geometric and sculptural designs, create a modern accent. The brown table and leather chairs offer a sense of classic solidity, while the combination of metal and wood adds a modern-industrial touch. The multicolored console, decorative vases, large mirrors, floor lamps, and green plants add artistic detail, depth, and a warm atmosphere to the space.
Design Language and Forms
The space combines past and modern, organic and geometric forms. Curved armchairs create flow and comfort, while the rigid geometric coffee tables and console create contrast and add dynamism. While each object is striking on its own, when combined, they create a harmonious and balanced whole.
